Honestly, the only way to do Disneyland is with someone in a wheelchair. As freezing as I was being pushed around in the cold, not having to wait in line was SOOOOO worth it!
We did have to stand in line for the Toy Story ride, and it felt like it took forever! But, that ride is adorable and addictive! I lost though, Taylor beat the pants off of me. ;___;
Over in California Adventure we went to one of my favorite stores, Off the Page, where we found the BEST BOOK EVER! Sadly it was $40 and none of us were willing to shell that much out right now. BUT BUT! I FOUND IT ON AMAZON FOR $26.40!!! Must get it!!!
After we left there and made our way to the Toy Story ride we got free tortillas. I forgot just how amazing they are when they're fresh. :Q
Oh, and I would like to take this time to bitch that the Aladdin show was NOT playing yesterday. It's playing today, but on the day we go??? HELL NO. FUCK YOU CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE!!! D:
Anyway, after Toy Story we all ate cotton candy like little kids. XD
Then we made our way to Dland. We rode the usual: Pirates, Haunted, Small World... we also did Storybook Land (at my request because it's been closed for ages). Sadly, it was at night, and contrary to what I've heard from others, that ride is NOT good in the dark. They need more fucking lights up in there! So, I'm sad about that.
Anyway, you guys don't want to hear me jaw on about it, lets see some pictures! Sorry they're not amazing. By the time we got to the Magic Kingdom the sun was going.
( Magical )
And now I have to take the time to talk about how I have the BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE FUCKING UNIVERSE!!!
Taylor = AWESOME!!
Look what she got me for xmas....
( OMFG ) |

The Nelson/Hatch anti-choice amendment did not pass the Senate!!!! This is the best news I've heard in a long time!
And I am proud that the California Senators voted it down!!! I ♥ Boxer & Feinstein! |

In anticipation for the second half of Alice tonight I have decided to share my favorite Lewis Carroll poem.

A boat, beneath a sunny sky Lingering onward dreamily In an evening of July-- Children three that nestle near, Eager eye and willing ear, Pleased a simple tale to hear-- Long has paled that sunny sky; Echoes fade and memories die; Autumn frosts have slain July. Still she haunts me, phantomwise, Alice moving under skies Never seen by waking eyes. Children yet, the tale to hear, Eager eye and willing ear, Lovingly shall nestle near. In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die; Ever drifting down the stream-- Lingering in the golden gleam-- Life, what is it but a dream? |

Good morning all. it's been awhile since i last posted in this journal and let me just say, it's been a busy time for us at the bakery. First off, the day before Thanksgiving day at market is insane. it took 3 pastry chefs to get the order out with 2 carts full of pastries which include; cinnamon twists, apple pies, pumpkin pies, cheese danishes, apricot danishes, plain croissants, almond croissants, chocolate croissants, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, oatmeal-cranberry cookies, fried apple pies, blueberry muffins, bran muffins, cranberry scones, whole wheat scones, almond brittle and pecan brittle. It was intense. Thankfully, thanksgiving day was a day off (it was really a day off for me anyways). Then it calmed down to where we were all on our normal days. Then this past weekend's christmas frinzy started. An order for 1,000 customized Sugar Cookies to be done in 4 days. Excuse me? What? That's right, 1,000 sugar cookies. So I made the batch of dough which resulted in the total amount of dough (caculated) to weigh about 80lbs. We had caculated to sheet out each slab of dough twice with scrap and chill the cookies before baking. There was also a special logo that was ying yang shaped which means extra work for heather and billy today. The man wanted color sugar so it was a hassle since we can't use regular foodcoloring since it has to be "all natural" since we're an All Natural bakery. We got away with using red and green, but the guy is being charged extra for it. So between Friday and Saturday, I cut out 600 cookie rounds and had them stacked on top of each other and chilled for heather. I wish I could have gotten more done, but it takes time for the dough to get cold and hard to sheet through the sheeter again. I wish heather and billy the best of luck today. I also told heather if she needed me, she could call. But since it's almost 9 am, which means their shift is almost done... i dont think she needs me.
I've been so caught up with work, I also forgot to mention that my graduation walk is next friday. Which means, I'm offically getting my diplomia and with my mother threatening me with a fist of anger, she told me i better walk or else. thanks mom for the motivation.
Back to the bakery idea, Heather got promoted to head pastry chef now, which means she's put on salary. She went to a meeting with the other bosses and was told that pastry team is taking too much time in getting products out and are staying longer and longer then nessary on overtime. She argued that things take time, unlike the bread team, and described how it takes 5 hours to proof the croissants everyone adores and loves. So in other words, I'm getting my hours cut back unless we find another account to snatch and grab. I'm not even getting 40 hours a week at work because of this and if worse comes to worse, i'll be let go from my position because of the hours. bummer.
So that's my holidays in a nutshell... and what sucks is Rob (my manager) mentioned to heather and I that one of us might have to come in on "Christmas Day" to work from 10am to 2pm due to the demand we have placed in the bakery. If an account is open on christmas day, we are considered open. Which means, one person will have to be on staff... double bummer. |
